Children's Hearings

The Children's Hearing system in Scotland is quite unique and consists trained members of the public to make important decisions in relation to the protection of children and young people. The process is set out in the Children's Hearings (Scotland) Act 2011 which provides rules and guidelines that must be followed.

The Children's Hearing process can seem quite daunting and complex and therefore it is vital that if you are required to attend then you must ensure that you get the best legal advice you possibly can, especially if you are attending for the first time.

There a number of different reasons why a child may be the subject of a referral to the Children's Hearing system. Tony Bone Legal will guide you the through the whole process from start to finish and ensure you are given the right kind of support throughout the whole process.

We will provide you with full advice, assistance as well as legal representation for either a parent, a child and/or a relevant person before, during and after the Children's Hearings.

We can represent clients on a private basis and we are also able to assess your eligibility for legal aid should that be required. We have the added advantage of having previous practical experience of working in Social Work so please do not hesitate to get in touch with us as soon as you become involved in this process.

In terms of costs, if you do not qualify for legal aid, then we generally provide you with a fixed cost for our legal services on a private fee basis. Fees are driven by the particular circumstances of your case, however, in general terms, we charge an hourly rate of £175.00. We always charge on a fair and reasonable basis.
